Audition

What is an audition ?

= An interview for a particular role or job as a singer, actor, dancer, or musician, consisting of a practical demonstration of the candidate's suitability and skill.

Why am I doing to theme ?

= I want to help advising people who is going to do audition particularly pianist (Solo). (Audition for High school, Bachelor and Master Degree)

How am I going to educate pianist ?

= Here is the list of composers I recommend and tier list of who you should choose and why

How am I going to present ?

I will be performing the follow works as if I am going to a real audition

Bach Prelude and Fugue Book 2 in F minor

Szymanowski Etude Op.4 No.1

Beethoven Piano Sonata Op.57 No.23 First Movement

Chopin Polonaise Fantasy Op.61

Scriabin Piano Sonata No.4

Note: This list is made based on my experience so you might find other composers that are not in this list. Also everyone has different strength, so some people might find for example Brahms not so difficult.

Basic audition format for piano audition (Solo)

A Baroque Piece (Usually Prelude and Fugue by J.S. Bach)

A Classical Sonata (Usually the whole sonata)

A Romantic Piece

An Etude or study (Usually from Romantic to late romantic period)

20th Century work or Impressionism

Here is my criteria:

Not too difficult to understand the music (Interpretation and Stylistic)

Execution (Completeness and the likely gap between your performance and the recorded one)

A: J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Clementi, Debussy, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich

B: J.C. Bach, Bartok, Gershwin, Haydn, Medtner, Poulenc, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Schoenberg, Scriabin, Strauss, Szymanowsky

C: Brahms, Glinka, Schubert, Schumann
